July 12 – An extended community version of “Center Point: Strength and Renewal”, a documentary film by Rusty Baker, will be screened at the Cailloux Theater in Kerrville on July 12 at 3:00 pm.
Created in response to the July 4, 2025 Guadalupe River flood, “Center Point: Strength and Renewal” honors the victims, survivors, rescuers, first responders, volunteers, and families whose lives were forever changed by the disaster.
The extended version of the original short film was developed specifically for the people of Kerr County, offering a deeper and more personal look at the strength, service, grief, faith, and resilience that emerged from one of the most difficult moments in the region’s history.
“This version of the film was made to come home,” said director Rusty Baker. “It was created for Center Point and Kerr County first. The purpose is to honor the victims, stand with the survivors, and recognize these firefighters who got out there and made a difference when their community needed them most.”
The Cailloux Theater screening is intended as a Kerr County community event — a time to remember, reflect, and honor those whose courage and compassion helped carry the region through tragedy. Admission is free, and no ticket is required. General Admission seating is first-come-first-served.
Baker, a retired U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Major, former combat photojournalist, and MFA documentary filmmaker at the University of North Texas, said his goal was to preserve the human story behind the response without sensationalizing the tragedy.
“No further public screenings are being considered after its showing at Cailloux,” said Baker. “The intent of the public screening was to be shown as close to the July anniversary as possible to offer a source of healing for the community when emotions from last year’s tragic events would likely return.”
