Auditions coming soon for Ken Ludwig’s hilarious farce Lend Me a Tenor! Irec Hargrove will be making his Playhouse 2000 Directing debut with this show, and he’ll be looking for four men and four women of various ages to play these roles:
- Saunders — 50-ish. The head of an opera company that is about to host the world’s greatest tenor for a benefit performance, except that that everything – but everything – goes wrong.
- Max — 30-ish. An opera nerd who loves Maggie as much as he loves opera, and desperately longs for courage. He works under Saunders, a little too literally;
- Maggie — 20’s – 30’s. Saunders’ daughter and love interest of Max, who is completely star-struck by superstar Tito.
- Tito Merelli — 40-something. A life-loving, over-indulgent world-class tenor with a passion for food, wine, women, and especially opera. Did we mention women?
- Maria, Tito’s wife — 40’s. A moody, hot-blooded, hot-tempered Italian who’s “a little bit” jealous.
- Julia — 50-60’s. A society matron in the mode of the Marx Bros’ Margaret Dumont. She’s the president of the Opera Guild, very important.
- Diana — Ageless. Opera Diva, publicity hound, dumb like a fox.
- Bellhop — 20-something. A wise guy who serves as the eyes, the ears, and the mouth of the hotel!
The audition will consist of cold readings from the script, which is available for two-day check out at the VK Garage Theater office. If you have other questions, give us a call at (830) 896-9393.
