With support from the Texas Commission on the Arts, Playhouse 2000 launched a new education initiative in cooperation with Tivy High School this week.
Students of Tivy’s Tech Theater program and its instructor, Jessica Sturm, will travel to the Cailloux City Center five times per week for six weeks to study aspects of tech that deal with equipment and materials they don’t have direct access to at home.
Workshop session will include introductions to lighting and sound equipment, basic scenic construction including the safe use of shop tools, flown scenery, basic color theory, beginning scenic painting and concepts in costume design.
All of this instruction will be put to practical use preparing for this summer’s presentation of Two Gentle men of Verona with Shakespeare In The Park.
Thanks to Tivy High administration and Director Theater Heather Butler for facilitating this special outreach for a group of great students!
