In 1953, the VK Service Garage was opened by L.W. “Van” Vansant and Johnny Klingemann. The business more than doubled in size by 1958, which made it the largest independent automobile repair facility in the Texas Hill Country, Playhouse 2000 purchased the property and converted it into a small audience performance venue. Their offices and the new stage area opened in 2000.
