Rehearsals are wrapping up soon, and we can’t wait for opening night of our Spring Musical project in partnership with Schreiner Theatre.
Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Me and Juliet is a little-known musical comedy the pair penned just after creating the huge hit The King and I, and a few years before their crowning achievement, The Sound of Music.
Our production features a talented cast of 24 and a large, live orchestra supported by an ingenious set and dozens of colorful costumes, all designed to recapture the charm of the Golden Age of American Musicals.
The cast of Me and Juliet in rehearsal for the first song in Act II, “Intermission,” which looks with tongue-in-cheek at the typical audience for a Broadway show.
River Wellborn and Anthony Martucci are “Jeanie,” a chorus girl in the show-within-a-show, and “Larry,” the
Assistant Stage Manager she falls for in this traditionally fun back-stage musical.
Show dates are February 3 through 19, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 and Sundays, February 12 and 19, at 2:30. Tickets range from $24 to $28 – just $15 for all students and children.
All Schreiner alumni and friends are encouraged to see the show on “Schreiner Night” – Saturday, February 4 – when the University will host a special post-show reception as part of their year-long 100th Anniversary Celebration.
