Season 2022 No. 1: Now and Then
A Time Traveling Romantic Comedy by Sean Grennan
Directed by R Sheldon Boyce
Auditions: November 28 and 29, 2021
|
|
One night in 1981, just as Jamie is closing the bar where he works, a
desperate last-minute customer offers him and his girlfriend Abby two
thousand dollars to sit and have a drink with him, and the reason he gives them is completely unbelievable.
When a very displeased second stranger arrives, the unbelievable begins to seem like the truth.
Now and Then is a heartfelt romantic comedy about the costs of the choices we make, and the impact on people who make those choices with us.
Sean Grennan is the writer of the hilarious Making God Laugh, which was a popular part of Playhouse 2000’s Season 2017.

Playhouse 2000 partners once again with The City of Kerrville Parks &
Recreation Department and the Tivy High School Technical Theater
Department to bring the Bard to Louise Hays Park, this year presenting a little-known comedy that deserves greater attention.
Pericles, Prince of Tyre, leaves home to escape death only to win a jousting contest and marry a princess. Once he can return home, his family sails with him, but a storm separates them, so Pericles returns alone. Years later, Pericles finds his daughter and reunites with the wife he had thought was dead.

Auditions: May 22 and 23
|
|
Nat Paradis is a Red Sox-loving part-time dad who manages “Paradis’ Last Convenient Store,” the last place to get gas (or anything) before the Canadian border in northern Maine.
When an old flame returns to town, Nat gets a chance to rekindle a romance he gave up on years ago. But sparks fly as he’s forced to choose between new love and old.
This play takes a hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking look at love lost and found, and what it means to “get back to happy.”
John Cariani is the playwright who created Almost Maine and other beautiful and poignant comedies.

Season 2022 No. 4: Leading Ladies
A Fabulous Farce by Ken Ludwig
Directed by Amy Goodyear
Auditions: July 31 and August 1
|
|
Two down-at-the-heels Shakespearean actors try to take advantage of a rich Pennsylvania widow who is looking to leave her fortune to missing relatives.
They plan to impersonate the lost nephews “Max” and “Steve,” and are surprised when the pair turn out to actually be nieces “Maxine” and “Stephanie.”
Undeterred, the actors continue the ruse by assuming female form. Their ploy becomes even more complicated when love enters the picture, and the laughs just keep on coming.
We’ll return to the spacious and beautiful Cailloux Theater to create
another “all out” production of a Ken Ludwig script, following up on last
season’s spectacular Murder on the Orient Express.
