P2K’s 2023 One-Act-Play entry, Horton Foote’s Blind Date traveled to Little Rock, Arkansas over the weekend to participate in the Southwest Theater Conference, AACT Region VI Festival.
The show was honored wtth recognition of “Outstanding Achievement in Scenic Design” (Jeffrey Brown) and an “All Star Cast” nod for Emery Dorman’s performance as “Sarah Nancy”.

At SWTC, we performed alongside theaters from Oklahoma; New Mexico; the other representative from Texas, Baytown Little Theater and their striking production of District Merchants, which earned runner-up status; and The Studio Theater of Little Rock, Arkansas, whose amazing production of Constellations was chosen to represent Region VI at the National Festival.

We also dealt with the massive Tornado that struck Little Rock during the Festival’s first day. The sirens blew immediately after our performance, during the time when judges were giving our critique. The whole process was moved to the basement of the theater and proceeded as normally as it could. We were not in the direct path of the storm, and thankfully there was no real danger for us.
All in all it was a great experience, and we appreciate all the local support – more than 150 of you saw our pre-trip preview! You can be proud that the name of Playhouse 2000 is recognized across Texas, across our Region, and across the country as a place where theater excellence is achieved.
